Data entry is the act of transcribing some form of information into another medium, usually through input into a computer program. Forms of data that people might transcribe include handwritten documents, information off spreadsheets, and sequences of numbers, as well as computer code and even names and addresses. Some careers are exclusively involved in data entry, while certain workers, like programmers, might have to occasionally enter data while performing other tasks. For spreadsheets and published or printed documents, typos can result in misinformation or embarrassing errors.
Qualifications
A degree or particular type of education is not usually required for this field. People can gain fast and accurate typing skills through classes or other methods, such as extensive practice. Certain specialized fields may require training in particular software programs or knowledge of subjects like medicine and anatomy. These opportunities usually pay better than general entry positions, but may require certification, education, or previous experience.
Telecommuting Opportunities
With a number of computer systems requiring new information on an almost constant basis, data entry does not necessarily have to take place in an office. Many people work out of their homes entering data, transcribing medical information, or updating websites. It is important for people sitting and typing all day to pay attention to maintaining good posture, type in an ergonomically sound position, and take breaks for their eyes and hands. Most experts in workplace ergonomics suggest that people sitting at a computer for extended periods of time should take a break at least once an hour and move away from their computer screens. Hand and body-stretching exercises can help prevent health problems like carpal tunnel syndrome.

Sorry to tell you this but is the true. I visited a web page that convinced me. I was very skeptical after I read more than 20 webpages, through several intents on how to do this. Like I said, this webpage convinced me, well to make the long story short. When I went to click and accept, I noticed the text changed, so I changed my mind. But I had already entered my bank info, but I didn't click to accept because i found something weird. Well, to my surprise, the next day my bank showed a $29 charge from this company. Well I called the bank and I requested and demanded the money be put back into my account. I had to request another debit card to block further monthly charges. What was the thing that sounded weird when i was in that process. But pay attention: I never clicked accept but their system already had my information. That happened in March. I had to file an investigation through my bank and finally in September, i did receive a letter from the bank that the credit i got back few days later my filing is now considered a definitive back credit because the bank didn't receive an answer from this company. Finally my problem was resolved, but please don't believe these offers of making money from home. After years looking opportunities making money from home, i found that situation, that definitively answer me that this kind of business is a fraud.

People can get their work done in countries like Bangladesh and India in for much lower wages. So don't be fooled. There is no easy money in life.

I was on this work-at-home forum today, and several folks were talking about how they freelance write and are getting paid $300 - $4,000 per day to write what they are calling "data entry".
Well, at first they were talking like they were the ones making the money, but after I got to asking them questions, I came to realize that they were just quoting ad-hype. They were very evasive about telling me how data entry writing worked and each recommended that I click on the links in their sigs to find out more info. They all admitted that they had yet to try it, and that they were making money off selling the e-book, that supposedly told you how to write data entry. The book by the way costs $349.99 but is on sale for the "amazing low price" of $99 today only (no matter which day you visit the website!) And I visited more than 20 different sites, all different addresses, but all with the exact same content, pictures, and one day only sale. Well, I wonder, if they can make $4,000 a day writing data entry, than why are they settling for selling the e-book instead? Sounds pretty fishy to me.
Well, I guess you can tell, they sound like scammers, so I gave up on them and their advice, but it did get me to wondering, is there really such a thing as data entry freelancing and does anyone here do it and know how I could find out how to get started?
So, I guess my question is, does anyone know of a way to break into a data entry freelance career, without buying scammers-e-books to tell you how to do it?
I tried searching Google, but that only directed me to even more "get rich quick scam sites"; nothing helpful there.
